Meteorological Science and Technology is a comprehensive academic journal, governed by China Meteorological Administration, and jointly sponsored by CMA Meteorological Observation Centre, Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences, Beijing Meteorological Service, National Satellite Meteorological Center, and National Meteorological Information Centre. The journal mainly publishes comprehensive reviews on the development of various fields in atmospheric science, and research articles that reflect new theories, methods, and technologies in atmospheric science and related sciences. Main columns include Atmospheric Sounding and Information Technology, Weather & Climate and Numerical Forecasting, Applied Meteorology and Scientific Experiments, Practical Techniques etc. Researchers, professionals, and lecturers engaged in atmospheric science and related disciplines are welcome to submit manuscripts and subscribe to the journal.
I. Requirements for Manuscripts
(1) Manuscripts must be with clear arguments, concise text, reliable data, and clear figures and tables. Each manuscript should include: the title (within 20 words if possible), authors’ names, author's institutes, cities, postal codes, abstract in Chinese, 3-8 keywords, main body, references, English title, abstract in English, English keywords, English names of authors and institutes.
(2) Abstract should clearly state the purpose, objects, methods, results, and conclusions of the research. Abstract in Chinese should be no less than 200 words and no more than 400 words. Abstract in English should be no less than 400 words.
(3) The usage of quantities and units, as well as numbers should conform to national standards. Variable symbols should be represented by a single Western Letter with Italic font, along with subscripts or other explanatory marks as appropriate. Do not use English acronyms as variable symbols. All symbols representing vectors or matrices should be specially indicated. The meaning of non-common physical definition that first appear in formulas or text should be explained.
(4) The names and units of physical quantities (horizontal and vertical axes) in figures and tables shall be given. The distribution map shall be marked with latitude and longitude. Different lines in the graph are distinguished by lines of different shapes and thicknesses, and isolines should be distinguished from terrain or grid lines. The lines should be smooth, clear, continuous and not serrated. Please place the figures in appropriate positions after text in the manuscript.
(5) Citation of others' work should indicate the sources, and unpublished materials should not be cited. References should be numbered in the order they appear in the text:
Journal: Author (putting surname before given name in the foreign language, giving the first three names, and adding "etc" or "et al." for more than three names).Title[J].Journal Name,Year,Volume(Number):Page Number(s).
Monograph: Author.Title[M].Edition (excluding first edition).Place of Publication:Publisher,Year of Publication.Page Number(s).
(6) The footer of the cover page should include information regarding the funding support for the article (fund number) and a brief introduction to authors, including their respective name, gender, year of birth, academic degree, title, main research areas, phone number, and email address.
(7) Data Sharing: The authors are encouraged to publish or share their research data whenever appropriate. Data sharing is helpful for experiment repetition and data reuse. The data for sharing may include original data, observation records, experimental results, etc. The journal also encourages the sharing of software, code, models, algorithms, protocols, methods, and other useful materials. The authors can upload the materials above to an accessible third-party repository and make a proper citation or add a link at the end of the article.
II. Submission Guide
(1) Academic misconduct such as plagiarism, infringement on others' intellectual property rights, or confidential information should not be involved.
(2) To prevent academic misconduct, the journal adopts plagiarism detection systems from China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI). The overall repetition rate shall be less than 20%. For manuscripts found with academic misconduct, the journal will immediately reject the manuscript and notify the author's institution and other relevant journals. For serious cases (e.g. intentional multiple submissions), the journal will no longer accept submissions from the author.
(3) The editorial office has the right to revise and edit submitted manuscripts. Authors who disagree with such modifications must make a written statement.
(4) Please avoid multiple submissions. Authors should keep a copy of the manuscript for themselves. If no notification of acceptance is received from this journal within 6 months of submission, authors are free to submit to other journals. Once the manuscript is accepted, an APC will be payable (100 Yuan/thousand words). One-time remuneration shall be paid to authors as appropriate (40 Yuan/thousand words).
(5) Meteorological Science and Technology has been included in China Academic Journal (CD-ROM), Wanfang Data, and China Science and Technology Journal Database. The remuneration paid by this journal includes that of the CD-ROM version and that of online publication services, and no additional payment will be made. If authors disagree to include their articles in the above-mentioned publications, they must make a written declaration beforehand and the journal will make alternative arrangements.
(6) Post-publication Discussion: We welcome authors and readers to make discussion on the journal’s published articles. Comments can be sent to the journal’s email (qxkj@cma.gov.cn). The editorial office will deal with it as soon as possible and give feedback as appropriate. We welcome readers and authors to actively provide their comments on the articles to the journal, which can help us to create a positive academic atmosphere.
(7) Correction and Retraction: Articles published online or in print are considered the final and complete version. In principle, the journal does not make corrections or retractions on published articles. However, in case of the situations described below, corrections or retractions may be carried out if truly necessary.
Correction: If there appears to be an unintended scientific mistake in the article which would not lead to significant impacts on the results and conclusion, the editorial office will publish corrections in the journal as soon as possible, detailing the changes made to the original article and indicating the source of the article. The journal will release the corrected new version of the article, and specify the changes to the original article and the date of update. In addition, the superseded version will also be archived. Readers can obtain it directly, but only the latest version of the article should be used for citation.
Retraction: In the following cases, the editorial office would retract published articles and issue retraction statements:
(i) If an article is found to have severe scientific errors making the results and conclusion of the article unreliable;
(ii) For articles suspected of academic misconduct, such as plagiarism and data falsification, the editorial office will initiate an investigation and issue a statement to inform readers of the risks associated with the article. Once the investigation is completed, the result will be made public. If the academic misconduct is confirmed, the article will be immediately retracted and a retraction statement will be issued by the editorial office.
(8)Once their manuscripts are accepted, authors must complete and upload the Copyright Transfer Agreement & Declaration of Authors.
